St. Barth is an island in the smaller Antilles. Located 200km from Guadeloupe and at 25km from Saint Martin, Saint Barthelémy is a mountainous island of 25 square km, whose only flat area is occupied by the famous airfield runway.
The island was discovered by Columbus in 1493 and bears the name of his brother.
Thanks to a strong construction regulation and strict pricing policy, Saint Barthelemy has successfully resisted mass tourism development and has become a Caribbean paradise for the wealthy. The city of Gustavia, and a dozen villages, bring together the heterogeneous population of St. Barth and other residents and visitors from around the world.
