SAINT BARTH / ARRIVAL 2008

St. Barth, one of the most beautiful jewels of the Antilles, is the final destination of the first Transat Classique Lagassé Group 2008. Receiving this race in the middle of the tourist season  was a real challenge. The island of St. Barth rose to the  challenge, and all the competitors were received with the honours. What happiness to arrive in the port of Gustavia in the middle of magnificent yachts here to celebrate the festive season and what a surprise for them to see the  arrival thirty yachts from another generation!

St. Barth is an island in the smaller Antilles. Located  200km from Guadeloupe and at 25km from Saint Martin, Saint Barthelémy is a mountainous island of 25 square km, whose only flat area is occupied by the famous airfield runway.

The island was discovered by Columbus in 1493 and bears the name of his brother.
Thanks to a strong construction regulation and strict pricing policy, Saint Barthelemy has successfully resisted mass tourism development and has become a Caribbean paradise for the wealthy.  The city of Gustavia, and a dozen  villages, bring together the heterogeneous  population of St. Barth and other  residents and visitors from around the world.
