The ISAF Category

Transat Classique 2008, depending on the ISAF Offshore Special Regulation 2006, will race under category 1.

It is strongly recommended to read this document as soon as possible to make sure you correspond to the specific points requested to join category 1.

ISAF Training

 

In 2003 ISAF introduced a standard basic syllabus for the training of safety courses in order to establish an International recognised qualification. The training requirements form part of the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations. These course are run and established by ISAF Member National Authorities (MNA) and conform to ISAF minimum standards.

 

30% of the crew included the skipper must have followed an ISAF safety training course (OSR - Section 6), during the 5 years preceding the race.

Telecommunication

Each boat must have an EPIRB 406 MHz or INMARSAT beacon, model "E" (see 4.19 of the OSR).

We are negotiating special prices for those who need to buy this equipment.


Transat Classique 2008 will provide each competitor with an Argos beacon during the race. This beacon will make it possible to give the position of each yacht uninterruptedly and to make a live a dynamic cartography on our web- site.

Iridium is the obligatory communication system. we negociated special prices, ask us !
