The Spinnakers
Many competitors think about the choice of their sails to bring on board.
At least 2 spinnaker appears as a matter for this race. These boats are heavy and sailboats tend to sell "light" spinnakers. But It is necessary to maintain these sails during many miles ...
The trend is certainly to equip these spinnaker with socks. Indeed, it brings an important comfort in the steerage. Rain shower are frequent in the tradewind, and the crews will be in the main, rather limited. It will be greatly appreciated by the watch crew to not haul down, roll back and send back the spinnaker unceasing!

The halyards
Being without halyard after a few days with the spinnaker (or few hours...), is very unfortunate.
One or two external blocks at the mast head with a light halyard can save many time and avoid one or more jump in the mast head. Think about it ....
